On a recent conversation with a lovely beautician from USA I made a discovery, discussing the economic climate I said I thought there was a turn down in trends for favours & that due to smaller budgets one of the 1st things to go when cost saving was the favours "OMG" she exclaimed "how do they thank their guests!"
While I believe the British stiff upper lip is a character trait we can be proud of I do think she might have a point! Favours do not need to cost a fortune you can but DIY kits of very simple flat packed boxes from as little as 30p each from Box Clever Wedding, sweets can be bought wholesale in most towns now or why not try a different filling like seeds & a little hand written poem/quote, forget-me-nots are a good one for people to not forget the day or Sunflower seeds, bringing you a little sunshine from our day, I think people very much appreciate a little gift, it shows that you have taken time to make something special for each one of them, there will always be some of your guests who want to take a momento of the day away with them so as another cost cutting saving you could combine favours & a guest name. These yummy favours were done for yesterdays wedding of Blondie & Tim who by all accounts had a smashing day!

the basket was hired, dressed in wedding colours to match the favours

pretty Macrame lace effect ivory bags with ivory & burgundy ribbon with Rose detail & each filled with 3 chocolate hearts

hand finished wooden hearts made in UK (my neighbour actually) then hand finished by me & stamped with coordinating ink, tied with matching ribbon.

and finally sweet heart bags filled with chocolate hearts and tied with matching ribbon

well what a fantastic day, we had 2 full rooms of some fabulous wedding suppliers who had a good day, the sun was shining maybe a little too much as the afternoon was very quiet but the morning was great, lots of couples through, 108 in total, some very nice encouraging words from those who attended saying we had done a very good job in organising the event & how well run it was.

This was Adam & Sophie's wedding order the favours were handmade wooden hearts stamped with love tied with purple organza and a chocolate heart

these delicious vintage boxes have hand embossed lids which have been distressed with ink and finished with a delicate pink foam rose, ribbon lace and pearl detail finished and filled with 3 chocolate hearts £2.80 each

Such a lovely smiling welcome awaited me at Rendezvous, as you can see Audrey here is full of them but it was Simon I met first, such a beautiful couple they make it was so nice to finally meet them & to visit their wonderful restaurant. I had managed to miss breakfast what with 3 children an all so what a great excuse to sample the food I had a smashing sausage, egg & bacon bap with the most tasty sausages & the egg was cooked to perfection. Imagine my surprise when I finally found the venue such a wonderful space & home to some fabulous suppliers of fabrics, home furnishings & jewellery, I managed to get in a some window shopping and have something to eat & drink. Corfield Hall is tucked in behind the St Mary Magdalene Church right in the centre of town so is a fab place to meet up with the girls to have a natter and the food is great! Wedding Ideas Magazine wont have chocolate brownies from anywhere else you know!

Trying to meet the needs of a bride on a budget wanting a kidston style wedding is no mean feat coupled with the distinct lack of kidston papers for crafting I have attempted in a very small way to cater.

these designs could be used on coordinating wedding stationery
& as a wrap around for boxes & is easy to reproduce time after time

here I have used the darker blue image in a draft print onto the front of the card

& added a strip of the light blue gingham to the inside of the card.

& here I have used a wrap around strip of the light blue
